A special region belonging to Spain

Navarre is the northern region of Spain which has France as its northern neighbor, the Basque Country as its western one, La Rioja calmly standing to the south and last, but not least, the unique Aragon lies to the east. What makes Navarre so special is the fact that you feel a unique combination of Basque and Mediterranean influences in all its members, in its flavors, scents, and its aspect. This particular unique combination is the one that attracts so many tourists from all over the world. Navarre is an independent region, having a parliament and a government which solves all the important problems concerning domains such as education, employment, and health. Navarre is a very interesting cultural and traditional mix, one that can’t be found anywhere else in Spain. The Ebro Valley makes the lands fertile, so Navarre lives from cultivating olives, wheat, even vegetables and grapes. It also hosts a Natural Park, the famous Delta del Ebro, where you can find the best carp in all Europe, let alone Spain.

The amazing Pamplona

Pamplona is the famous and very popular capital of Navarre. The 10th century transformed Pamplona into the capital of the region and also the century which started a series of dominations which influenced the present-day city. The Romans were the ones who founded Pamplona, but lost it in the favor of the Moors, exactly like many other Spanish cities. It was even under the dominance of Charlemagne for a short period of time. Pamplona, even though it is a cosmopolitan city, still fights to keep the Spanish traditions alive; this is why the city is so famous for the San Fermin Fiesta, the popular festival of bulls running along the streets of the city.

This festival is the main attraction of the city; it has its roots deep in history and it represents the festival which celebrates the patron saint of the city and of Navarre: San Fermin. The central event of the festival is the release of twelve bulls on the streets of the city and the participants have to run, if courageous enough, in front of them. If you visit this region, you will be welcomed by a lot of strange differences which make it so beautiful: for example, you have warm weather in the south, but the imposing Pyrenees in the north. Just visit it and you will love every part of it.
